Club Report

At the beginning of July, a strawberry cream tea had to be held indoors at the home of the Chairman of the guild., but was enjoyed nevertheless. With the help of a bring-and-buy stall and a raffle, enough money was raised to be divided between Guild funds and the year's char-ity.

There was almost 100% attendance at the guild meeting on the 23rd, Miss G Ould gave details of the many items discussed at the federation meeting the previous day, one of which was ad-vance notice of the carol service in St Martins-in-the-field in December.

A visit to Somerset House to view the Gilbert collection has been arranged for September 26, and in place of the monthly meeting in August, a garden party will be held at 11 Summerhill Close, with a bring-and-buy stall and a raffle.

After tea, Cruising' was the subject of Mr W Christmas's talk. A passenger on many cruise ships and armed with copious notes, he spoke of the many areas he had visited - the Mediter-ranean, Caribbean, Nile and Arctic Circle among others. It is luxury living with a tremendous selection of food available all day, lots of entertainment and shore trips which is now within the reach of everyone, not just the rich and famous.

Something to think about for future holiday's which the speaker has obviously done as he has booked a cruise for August next year.

The next guild meeting is on September 24.
