How not to spend our cash

I am disgusted by the report on overspending by Lewisham Council (News Shopper, June 26).

I can understand how the crisis occurred.

Let me give an example.

I had four broken paving stones outside my house in Clayhill Crescent last year.

When I drew the council's attention to this, the contractor came round but only changed one.

I phoned again sometime ago and one more was replaced, leaving two.

I would like to know why all four were not replaced in one job and at one price.

If this is the way the council works, I'm not surprised about the overspending.

The road on Clayhill Crescent needs resurfacing as it is full of potholes but, of course, there is no money to do that. So what exactly is our council tax spent on?
