Head was right to send teacher home

I am disgusted at the way head teacher Andrew Kearsey has been portrayed over the treatment of transsexual supply teacher Natasha Thoday (The Argus, September 27).

As a parent of a child who attends Telscombe Cliffs County Primary School, I feel very strongly about an issue that involves my son's school and the excellent staff who work in it.

I cannot believe Ms Thoday and the media painted such a bad picture of the school without any explanation from the head teacher.

I gather Mr Kearsey was not allowed to make any comments concerning this incident. This is appalling.

Since Mr Kearsey has been head teacher, I have seen the school go from strength to strength.

He was faced with a very difficult decision regarding Ms Thoday and the decision he made was in the best interests of the children.

If Ms Thoday wants to improve the rights of transsexuals, she should go about it in a more professional manner than buying herself a Mercedes car and suggesting if this should happen again it would be a Rolls-Royce. Teachers are professionals.
