I would like to warn people Parking in the council car park for the Open Market in St Francis Street to be very careful not to stay over the allotted times.
When I returned late, my car was clamped and I had to pay £100 there and then to have it released.
The firm is Ethical Parking Management, but I don’t think that was very ethical. Close your eyes and notices spring up overnight!

Interestingly, thus far the University of Brighton have been unable to tell me if they employ the man in the booth directly or if they do so through "Ethical Parking Management". The importance of this is obvious, I think.
Either way, the whole affair seems highly unethical to me - being specifically advised that I could park there and then getting a fine!
For interest, "Ethical Parking Management" are happy to accept your payment by telephone but all appeals have to be in writing - to a P.O. Box number - and you have to send an SAE if you want a reply!!!
Well, my appeal went today via Recorded Delivery along with an emailed complaint to Gavin Ford (Estates & Facilities) at the University of Brighton. So far Mr Ford has not responded, although he read my email this afternoon...
