Mark Knopfler plays a few riffs for BIMM students at the Argus Appeal event
Pop legend Mark Knopfler
presented a cheque to The
Argus Appeal in memory of a
teenager who died of cancer.
The Dire Straits guitarist
chatted and strummed with
Brighton Institute of Modern
Music (BIMM) students, who
raised £6,000 with a string of
events in memory of Kat
Jones, a former BIMM pupil
who died in September last
year.
Kat, a flamboyant "goth"
singer, was diagnosed with a
brain tumour in 2003 and
died a few months before her
18th birthday.
Her family, from Patcham,
are supporters of The Argus
Appeal.
The appeal organised one of
Kat's last trips out - to the
Grand Hotel in Brighton for
cream tea with five of her
closest friends.
