A classic Fifties boys'
annual has been donated to
The Argus Appeal.
The first edition of the Eagle
Annual, produced in 1951, was
given to The Argus's charity
fund by antiques expert and
TV presenter Simon Schneider.
Mr Schneider, of St Aubyns in
Hove, bought the book on
ITV1 show Dickinson's Real
Deal.
In the programme, antiques
dealer David Dickinson gives
contestants
the chance to
sell their
goods at an
auction or
accept an
offer from
one of three
professional
dealers,
including Mr Schneider. He
offered £100 for the book,
which had a reserve auction
price of £40 to £60.
Mr Schneider, 53, said he
remembered Eagle's Dan Dare
stories from his childhood.
He said: "I bought it on the
show from David Dickinson's
wife."
