A man with severe disabilities is now more mobile again thanks to a donation from The Argus Appeal.

Adam Barnard, 26, lives in assisted housing in Crawley Down and regularly uses a specially adapted bike when he is out and about.

However his old bike had become too small for him and was in a poor condition so his family, who come from Portslade, were keen for him to replace it.

His parents Annette and Paul contacted the appeal and trustees agreed to pay for a new bike, which costs more than £1,000.

Mr Barnard has Cornelia de Lange syndrome, a severe emotional disability which leaves him virtually unable to communicate.

The Argus Appeal has been helping the local community in Sussex for more than 50 years.

If your group or organisation supports those in need, you may qualify for a donation from the appeal – send as much detail about who you are, what you do, who benefits, what you need and the cost to The Argus Appeal, Argus House, Crowhurst Road, Hollingbury, Brighton, BN1 8AR, or email elsa.gillio@theargus.co.uk.

The appeal does all sorts of fundraising and anyone who can help by holding an event or donating an auction or raffle item can call Elsa Gillio on 01273 544465.
