The Argus Appeal is helping patients to sleep more easily.
The charity has given a £4,270 grant to the Martlets Hospice in Wayfield Avenue, Hove.
The donation has allowed the hospice to buy a new Curocell therapy mattress and to pay for its maintenance for five years.
Gary Moyle, the trust and foundation fundraiser at the hospice, said that the maintenance payments will be key.
He said: “The new bed gives extra support to people who are really frail and weak. The beds are in use 24 hours a day so this was really important.
“We are in the process of replacing all 18 beds and we have so far replaced 15.”
