A homeless charity's project to develop a greenhouse has won backing from The Argus Appeal.
Emmaus was awarded £5,000 towards the cost of setting up the nursery and growing area for the scheme at the charity's base in Portslade.
Appeal trustees visited the site to see the proposals for themselves before recommending making the payout.
Emmaus is planning to maximise the use of its grounds to create a garden centre to grow and sell plants and produce along with garden furniture, tools, books and recycled planters.
The charity works to support the homeless by offering men and women companionship, a place to live and work and an opportunity to integrate back into mainstream society.
Appeal chairman and editor of The Argus, Michael Beard, and appeal trustee Sue Addis presented Emmaus garden project manager Rachael Woodgate with the cheque.
