Famous Sussex musicians have presented a cheque to The Argus Appeal.

Members of Battle group Keane, Tim Rice-Oxley and Tom Chaplin, gave the cheque for £1,000 to Argus editor Michael Beard.

The musicians were at the Brighton Institute of Modern Music (BIMM) for one of the college’s weekly master classes.

The money was raised by BIMM students from end of term gigs which the college puts on to give students a chance to perform.

Mr Beard, chairman of The Argus Appeal, collected the cheque and said: “BIMM have been really terrific supporters of ours.”

He thanked the crowd, adding: “It really does make a difference.”

Mr Chaplin and Mr Rice Oxley have pledged to donate their fee to the Elin Rose appeal.

BIMM has donated money to The Argus Appeal for nine years.
