Donations have been pouring in for Argus columnist Adam Trimingham, who is taking on a 140 mile bike ride to raise funds for The Argus Appeal.

He will be one of 20 riders, including Argus editor Michael Beard, who will be cycling between Brighton and Paris later this month.

More than £500 has already been pledged on Adam’s Justgiving page.

The trip will be quite a challenge for Adam, 68, who has early Parkinson’s Disease.

However he is an experienced cyclist who used his bike on a daily basis during his 30 years as a reporter for The Argus before retiring in 2004.

Adam is a long standing member of Bricycles, the Brighton and Hove cycling campaign, and of Sustrans, the cycle routes charity.

He contributes a weekly column for The Argus on Wednesdays and a history article in the paper’s magazine on Saturdays.

The Argus Appeal supports good causes across Sussex.

The cyclists will be setting off on July 27.

People can sponsor Adam at www.justgiving.com/Adam-Trimingham or by sending cheques to him made payable to The Argus Appeal at Crowhurst Road, Brighton, BN1 8AR.
