  • "As a resident of the top end of hangleton way i was yet again sad for not only my own children, but those of other families who live on this strech (from west blatchington infant school) back down to hardwick road, for whom we miss out on when the santa bus passes). To await for the bus to pass ,only to see it turn around the corner down the road and santa to go back down, and the bus to stop and turn all the lights off. I hope this is not taken in bad spirit but just a shame that the whole of hangleton way could not see what a great bus it was/is and all the children could see santa and give more money towards the good cause it is raising for."

Santa heads around Brighton and Hove for Argus Appeal

The Argus Appeal Santa bus is making its way around Brighton and Hove from November 29-December 18 The Argus Appeal Santa bus is making its way around Brighton and Hove from November 29-December 18

The Argus Appeal's Santa Bus will be setting off on its tour of the streets of Brighton and Hove from Monday, November 28 to spread some Christmas cheer.

Father Christmas and his team of elf volunteers will be taking the brightly decorated double-decker bus in and around the city to raise money for The Argus Appeal and the Martlets Hospice.

It will set off in the early evenings every weekday as soon as it gets dark and people are being urged to listen out for it and give generously.

The bus will also be found outside Churchill Square shopping centre in Western Road on Saturdays and Sundays up until December 18.

The Santa Bus is being supported by Legal and General, Brighton and Hove Bus and Coach Company and the Theatre Royal.

Charity donation

Appeal co-ordinator Elsa Gillio said: “Once again we will be out and about and we are hoping to make this a record year.

“Before the bus comes to your street we will be delivering donation envelopes to every door.

“All people then need to do is listen out for the bus coming and make a donation.

“We'd love it if as many people as possible came out to say hello.

Martlets fundraiser Antonia Sheperd said: “This year the Santa Bus has been incredibly popular with local businesses.

“Staff from Lloyds TSB, Legal and General and Brighton and Hove City Council have all volunteered to join Santa and his bus on its nightly tour of the city.

“I'd like thank everyone for helping.”

A map of the Santa Bus route and a list of the streets being visited are on The Argus's dedicated webpage, here .
