Patience pays off

I managed to beat the weather yesterday morning, getting a run in at 6.15. So it's definitely worth waiting for the right opportunity and not risking phlegm-dom by running in the rain.

It was a 30-minute threshold run (although I found out when I got back it should have been only 25 minutes), which hurt like hell at that time of the morning. In recent weeks, I've not done a properly challenging (non-fartlek) run in the morning. But it delivered a PB, at least for recent training runs, of 3.3 miles covered. Considering the hilly hellishness it included, I was decidedly chuffed.

I've got up this morning to run again (hence writing this at 6.30 a.m.). But checking the schedule, I'm expected to do a 30 minute run at either level 2 or level 1. I know I promised not to cheat last Sunday, but having done 30 minutes at level 3 yesterday, I can't seem to be bothered! The other session for the week is a 30 minute interval run. So I'm planning to head lagoon-wards tomorrow morning and do that, before Sunday's 11 miles.

It probably won't be that early - there's company-sanctioned alcoholism this evening - but I'll report when it's done.
