Tis the season to...not wash and sit in a field

The reason I have been quiet on the blogging front is that it is festival season and so I have spent quite a few days sitting in fields - or attemptig to recover back in the real world.

This year we have all been so lucky with the weather, I was lucky enough to enjoy my second dry Glastonbury in a row and to see the legend that is Bob Dylan at Hop Farm. While I have done all my festivals for this year (booo), there’s still loads more to come so here are my top tips for anyone gearing up for an upcoming festival:

• Don’t hang aound too much in the day just sitting in your tent. If there’s nothing on that you are interested in, see something you have never heard of. This year I saw a swing bad playing Spice Girl covers and they were wicked!
• Whatever the weather pack lots of jumpers. It always gets cold and you want to be comfortable for the headliner
• If it is hot and raining, wear shorts. Your legs dry quicker than jeans
• Sun hats are now cool. Thank Godness because it is hot this year and it hides unwashed hair and curly fringes
• Rolf Harris is also cool …
• As is ANY band from the 80s
• Don’t bring fruit, you may have good intentions but it will turn to mush in your tent
• Don’t be afraid to see bands you have already seen – the atmosphere of a festival crowd is different to a gig
• Be a geek and get a good night’s sleep beforehand – you’ll need the energy
• Don’t wear wellies unless you need to. The Hunters you just bought may finish off your festival look, but they will just get hot and sweaty
• Don’t be afraid of toilets. Many now have proper flushes – whoop whoop
• Showers are often avaliable but they are a waste of time, you’ll only miss out on the music and then attract the dust. Everyone is as dirty and so it is fine!
• Choose times to meet up with friends carefully and before bands begin. You don’t want to miss your faviourate song glued to your phone, descibing the flag you are near with your back to the stage
• Be prepared for the bump back to reality when you come home
• Get your arse in gear and register now for next year’s Glastonbury. If you don’t, don’t become jealous of your friends who get tickets next year
