To be or not to be - that is the question Whether it is nobler in the mind to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune , or to take up arms against a seizure of sloe gin and by opposing end it. But pray first to look at lovely Lottie

Our Bulwark again a sea of troubles

Of all the trees in the wood, the Holly bears the crown; our bulwark against a sea of troubles but not to be confused with the bitter blue sloe berries, with their poisoned thorns.

Cabbage, Tis a consumation to wished.

'Tis a consummation to be wished.

There is nothing like a crisp cabbage, softly steamed with a touch of butter that melts in the mouth to make a Christmas dinner honest with a good drink.

Purple sprouts:The native hue of resolution

The native hue of resolution?

Purple sprouts fit for the queen's speech, made firm by a full frost and crowned in snow.

Carrots, Ay there's the rub.

Ay ,there's the rub.

Carrots, framed but not cloched, too late for Christmas, the cunning Jaspers. But what see I yonder?

To be drunken sloely Helen

Th' oppressor's wrong, the proud man contumely?

Alas alack, I am undone. Snow gin or sloe gin is to be drunk slowly , but look who sinks my sloe gin....shquickly.

Was it heavenly Helen? Troy to sip it sloely.

Who would fardels bear or chill out with ice?

Who would fardels bear?

To grunt and sweat under a weary life, when ice may bring cool comfort to a tempered brow or chill a sloe gin slowly.

to save our sloe grin

Who will Save Our Sloe grin?

I will take arms against a sea of troubles!

Happy Christmas and a peaceful New Year.

How lovely! Now I do feel incredibly festive.
I always remember sloe gin as heralding christmas - a friend always made a jar during the season for next year, while bringing in last years for us to try. Always eye watering and gorgeous!
Merry Christmas. RH x

A late uncle of mine would always produce a bottle of one his vintages each christmas. They were always wonderful! I tried many times but I could never master the skill as well as he. I do still have a couple of his bottles left and I think that one of them will be used as a toast this year. Merry Christmas!
