Welcome to our liveblog of the Brighton Marathon.

Here, we will be bringing you live updates through the day, including videos from our reporters, pictures and tweets from spectators and possibly even runners using the hashtag #brightonmarathon.

We'll also bring you details of road closures, transport issues and any news.

Just click on play below to get going. You don't need to be registered to leave a comment, but our reporters will have to approve them before they appear on the liveblog, so there may be a delay.

More videos available in our gallery.

Don’t miss Monday’s Argus as it will include a full report of the race and an eight page souvenir picture special.

Then the full results with the name of every runner and their finishing time will be in the paper on Tuesday.

We also want you to get involved, whether you are running or just watching the event.

Email your photos of the race or street parties to picture.desk@theargus.co.uk or text them to us by typing the word SUPIC in the body of your text, followed by a space and any other comments to 80360.

A team of Argus reporters and photographers will be covering the marathon and regular updates throughout the day can be found on our website.

I just wanted to say a huge thanks to all of the thousands of people who lined the streets - you made what would have been an ordeal an amazing experience. You did this city proud today.

It sounds like it's been great event, and a well organised one as well. Congratulations to everyone who gave it a go.

Imagine the extra pride those who gave it a go must feel knowing that YOU support them, not just anyone, but YOU.

I can now see what a cynical fool I've been, and am already in training for next years event, just so that I, too, can recieve YOUR congratulations.

You will when one day you, your friends or family will want to call upon the charities that will have benefited from this event

As a regular marathon runner I was astounded as to the huge numbers of supporters & onlookers to the marathon. Cities many times the size of ours would salivate as to the crowds that the marathon attracted.

The atmosphere was fantastic & the event went off without any hitches, barring a 15 minute delay due to a car parked where it shouldn't have been.

The street parties brought people together in the same roads who have merely nodded to each other, improving the joix de vie.

If some of the inclines in the first half of the race could be re-routed. Why the out & back to Rottingdean, but an extra small loop in Hove say, would make a promisingly fast route to a quick one, attracting top class runners.

Very few cities or even seaside resorts could hold such an event. To do so in such an exemplary way is to be applauded. My time of 3:41 was not what I was hoping for, however the magnificance of this event is greater.

Today is a day to be very proud of being a Brightonian. The revenue for the shopkeepers, hotels & restaurants will have come in most handy indeed i suspect

I agree with Greyruns comment.

Today's successful event elevated us to a city.

When Falmer opens this should cement our city status further.

My legs feel like concrete but had great day for my first marathon. Loved the mini street parties heading towards portslade, proper feeling of how we should live! also thanks for the freebie goodie bag and my black toenails! Highlight had to be my spectator mate running beside me to give me sun cream and me having to slow down so he didn't have to suffer to much!

As a resident of Preston Park I'd just like to say that I thought it appeared to be very well organised but if somebody could come back to the park and pick up the litter that is still strewn all over the place that would be great!
Also many thanks to the many low lifes who saw fit to use our property as a toilet - very much appreciated! Perhaps next year the organisers could double the amount of toilets available - the q's had to be seen to be believed. Its the same old story with Pride - not enough toilet facilities and there is nothing guaranteed to get the locals who have no choice but to live with these event wound up more than visitors defecating on their property.
Apart from that, well done to all those who took part. I have no doubt you are sore as hell today and will be even worse tomorrow but it was worth it. Congratulations.

All I can say is what a fantastic day, we walked in from Fishersgate and saw the leader just approaching the power station really early, from them on we had the best day cheering and clapping until our hands were raw, the runners were amazing, the people that turned out to support them made me proud to live in Brighton and Hove.
The organizers worked so hard, well done to all who took part and those who organized and supported such a wonderful event.

What an amazing event! This was my first marathon (and my birthday!!) and I'm so pleased I chose Brighton - thank you so much to the people of Brighton and Hove who shouted out my name, clapped and cheered helping me along the way - you were all brilliant! WELL DONE BRIGHTON!!!

A wonderful day in a wonderful city.

Beautiful weather (okay, not ideal for 26.2 miles of running!), a festive atmosphere and a traffic free city.

It's 14 years since I've done a marathon, but I will be out there next year, albeit a bit slower than in I was in 1996.

"Who cares?" .. well Ms Hinge if you were any where near the marathon route yesterday you would have seen a wonderful celebration of human spirit, determination and the sheer joy of sharing a special occasion, be it as a participant or as an onlooker. That might not float your boat Ms Hinge, but your flippant comment does you no credit.

Well done to all involved - runners, organisers and all those cheering along the route.

The only down-side I saw was that the council couldn't bring themselves to close their beloved cycle lane on the pavement along Kings Road / Grand Junction Road in Brighton. So with the pavement full of spectators, we saw cyclist still trying to use the lane - some of them far too fast.
And before anyone says anything, I am a cylcist who uses this lane frequently.

It was the most fantastic turn out and an absolutely brilliant day!
The crowds were amazing and people were cheering me on every step of the way which kept me going.
A brilliant event for Brighton.
Even though I found it extremely hard and I am aching and more tired today than I have ever been, I will be signing up for next year.
Well done to the organisers, runners and volunteers who supplied us with much-needed bottles of water, powerade, vaseline and energy cubes.
Thank you also to the amazing and supportive spectators.
It was a fantastic day!
