So the alarm rang out at 5am and the great journey to the far flung North West lay ahead. Well it did for some diehards but I opted for the easier journey to the outskirts of Uckfield. The
temptation of a 16 hour round trip to Barrow lingered very briefly, but having done the jaunt twice in recent times, I took the coward's way out and decided that 20 miles was far more acceptable
  than 335!

So, Saturday 4th September was Non League day and boy did we get some coverage! With 2 red cards, a heroic display from a Boro God and some bloke called Terry at the Lane, the Gospel according to
Garry and Nick filtered on to the national radio airwaves!

Once upon a time, in a land far far away, there was a BIG football club .... fire breathing dragons sent throngs of burning flames at all that crossed their path and many a foe shuddered at the
mere thought of being visited by such a monster!

After a self imposed exile (the tail end of last season was too depressing to blog about) I am back to dip my toes tentatively in the waters of Blogworld again. With the summer behind us and that
debacle of a football tournament, I know I was not alone in the anticipation of the new campaign. Some old friends hung up their red shirts, and new ones have taken them off the hangers to wear the
Boro Martello for the first time. A warm welcome goes to all the summer signings.

Now, where were we? Oh you mean you have actually missed this nonsense? Well I do apologise for the lack of blogging but having moved into a broadband-free property, I couldn't get online to get
this through. But I am back, whether it be by popular demand, or just my whim, and the blogs continue.

I was sitting watching the FA Cup replay last night between my beloved Eagles and some Midlands lot, and it suddenly occurred to me. I have just taken a winter break from the blog spot. It wasn't a
conscious decision but not having travelled to away games and only having a depressing FA Trophy replay defeat to endure, there has been little if any inspirational events to spur me into action.
Having played twice at The Abbey in front of 14 away fans in the space or four days, and there is still no news on whether it was the same 14 fans at each game, and then taken a draw at Tamworth,
Priory Lane actually staged a game for the first time in 25 days when Boro v Cambridge, part IV went ahead on a very chilly Tuesday evening.

Not been a good week really has it. The Sussex countryside looked glorious as the blanket of snow covered hills and vales. Well, pretty it maybe but what good is pretty to die-hard football fans?
Not that is has been a local issue as United Kingdom PLC ground to a halt. It must be bad when all you can resort to is a few highlights on Saturday night terrestrial television. For only two
Premier League grounds to be fit for play shows how crippling a bit of snow can be. Of course, it's not just the fact that a game is called off, it's all the behind the scenes roll on effects that
can affect clubs in more ways than one.
