Friday 1st August Pinch Punch and all of that for the first day of August .Well its nearly here… Summer Pride 2008 and the rain has been and gone! I am feeling better today as it is nice and
cooler. I always find when its hotter that I never sleep that well. Also it hasn’t helped that my neighbours have been putting in new patio doors and so the workmen start at 8ish! Don’t worry
Derek…. I’m up now!

Wednesday 30th July Well today i'm tired! It’s going to happen. Weather is still looking good for Saturday. But yesterday I was up at 7 am and went to bed at 1 am. This is not good for me. So today
I am going to try and get some more sleep. I have already been to Radio Reverb and appeared on their breakfast show. And have another interview at 11am. Friday’s blog will have my how to survive
the park details! But i’m thinking how am I going to survive this week. Although I do get such a boost from the generosity of some people. Yesterday I went over to Worthing to pick up a van from
Abacus Van Hire who always donate a van for us to hire for the week. How good is that?

Thursday 31st July Pride has got talent. I was at the Queens Arms yesterday and it was a fantastic final. The acts were across the board, male, female, gay, lesbian, drag, guitars and stroppy
children! (part of the Just Jean act) I loved it, fabulous songs and humour and the judges, Andy Feest from the Queens Arms, Pula May, Gavin Owen, chief volunteer steward from Pride, Scott Drag
With No Name, last year’s winner Jilly B and JJ and myself all came to the same conclusion that MC Envy, a rapper, was the one and now goes on to perform on the Cabaret Stage at the park at 5.40 on
Saturday. With that and The Weakest Link: Final at Revenge where it was girls on top with the PV winning this year, with the fantastic host Sally Vate! What a night. Having been woken up at 8 am by
my neighbours drilling and putting in a new patio door, having got to bed after a disturbance too in my street at 2am I am feeling a bit tired today but still.. rest time next week!!!

Last night the Queens Arms was fantastic. Watching Phil Starr and Dockyard Doris brought back so many memories. As a pianist I played for both of them in many gigs and to be honest I remember more
the journeys to and from the gigs where I would be hearing stories from Phil and Doris about times gone by. When I used to ask Phil what we were performing that night, he would say “oh and SOS
show” which equated to same old **** Watching them on the TVs set up in the Queens Arms was as if they were doing the show in the next room on a stage. They were fantastic but its nice also to see
that the jokes live on with several of today’s artistes.

What a day I had yesterday. Apart from having to get up at 7.30 to go and do a spot on Southern Counties Radio, it was an amazing day! I headed up to the “Drag Racing” zorbing with Orb360.co.uk up
at Devil’s Dyke. What an opening event to have. The views were amazing over the city from portslade all the way over to Kemptown. That view does make you realise what a beautiful city this is.

Pride 2008...well its here! Everyone thinks Pride is just a parade and a day in the park. As if. There is so much happening this year as there is ever year. It’s amazing the number of different
events that we have going on. Over 70 events in so many different venues. So I am going to be all over the city. And what a fantastic city this is and that why it's Pride in Brighton and Hove. If
you haven’t dipped into Pride then have a peek at the website www.brightonpride.org where you can see details of all the events.
