Day 24 - some thoughts on London cyclists

Posted on 7:49am Friday 25th February 2011

I was back in London yesterday on Mental Health Network business. My term as chair ends in July 2011. It has been a huge honour and I will miss it very much. It is good to end having led the network through the development of the cross-government strategy No Health Without Mental Health. And the national anti-stigma campaign Time to Change goes from strength to strength, with Ruby Wax, Stephen Fry and Terry Pratchett speaking out about discrimination.

Day 22 - a bit of knee trouble

Posted on 11:18pm Tuesday 22nd February 2011

I woke feeling weary at 6.20, with a bit of knee ache. The early rain had luckily stopped by 7.20 when I set off and cycled to Brighton station. I caught the train to West Worthing, and cycled to the office. Another busy day, but I managed to leave at 5.30 as I had a hot date tonight, and cycled back to the station to see the tail lights of a train leaving.

Day 17 - round and about in Brighton and Hove

Posted on 9:29pm Thursday 17th February 2011

I am being really lucky with the weather this week. Today I had a whole day on the Brompton visiting various sites and the sun shone throughout. The main challenges, apart from the hills, were the various quick changes from cycling gear into work clothes and back again - seven changes in total throughout the day.

Day 15 - A Day at the Office

Posted on 10:02pm Tuesday 15th February 2011

It was a long day today. I was up at 5.30am, set off at 6.15am, cycled to the office on the west side of Worthing via Dyke Road Drive (for those who don't know, this is a serious hill)and down to seafront - 17 miles in total. There was a nice bit of wind from the south east, hurrah.

Day 14 - Half way through my challenge

Posted on 7:12pm Monday 14th February 2011

The sun shone on Saturday. I walked five miles and travelled five miles by bus to do some errands, watch Brighton and Hove Albion romp to a 4-1 win at home against Hartlepool, and go out for supper with friends. Sunday was a day of rest because I have a lot of cycling to do this week - uh oh.
