Week 19

Posted on 1:08pm Friday 17th July 2009

Week 19 starts with a sore throat, snotty nose, aching back and another day off work. Gav takes the laptop to work with him so I can rest completely and make sure I am ok to see our tiny great niece this weekend.

Week 18

Posted on 12:49pm Friday 17th July 2009

It’s the day after the flood from upstairs. I head off for a work training day only to have to throw up when I get there and return home feeling lousy and back to bed. I spend the rest of the day at home lying on the bed.

Week 17

Posted on 1:37pm Friday 10th July 2009

I feel faint, hot and exhausted. I am constipated and feel fat. I am yet to look pregnant and am feeling podgy. I hope this isn't a sign of how I'll feel all summer. I have started to get clumsy and at a work meeting nearly fall backwards over my chair when I go to hand out cups of coffee. I am embarrassed but two colleagues look concerned at me and I get told to sit down! I go home with all of these feelings going on and trying to organise them and tell myself that this is normal.

Week 16

Posted on 1:32pm Friday 10th July 2009

Morning sickness gets less. I'm not sure about all this feeling great malarkey as I just feel normal but very nice it is to feel normal.

Week 12

Posted on 1:30pm Friday 10th July 2009

This is the week of our first scan and Jo has taken to calling our little bean Little Carrot. Two reasons: my Grams named us all when we were little and these names have stuck in our adult lives. Mine was Carrot Top. Since it is a almost certainty that our child will be a redhead the name will probably stick.

Week 11

We already know that our baby will be a gig baby. Gav has played the guitar for the majority of his life and I want the baby to be bought up in a musical environment. After seeing Ultravox on April 23 our next gig was a festival. All Tomorrow's Parties at Butlins, Minehead. By this time it seemed sensible to spread the news so that I could feel a bit safer and looked after.

Week 9

Saw the midwife for the first time. Blood taken. I really hate having to pee in a pot! Luckily hubby is with me and the midwife is really lovely. I am not sure that her telling me about lots of blood being at the birth helps my confidence in all of this but oh well at least it is honest!

Week 5

Posted on 5:02pm Monday 6th July 2009

And so morning sickness starts. In fact it is a queasy feeling all day long and night along with the most extreme tiredness I have ever felt (even after a late and very drunk night out). How you are meant to hide this at work is crazy! I end up in bed at around 7pm every evening and leave hubby alone. Feel guilty but the extremes of tiredness make sure I am sleeping for around 12 hours a night. I am tired, I feel grotty and know that I am becoming a bit moody.

Week 4

Posted on 5:00pm Monday 6th July 2009

So I find out I am 4 weeks pregnant (although why it’s 4 weeks and not actually 2 took a bit of thinking to understand) two days before my 30th Birthday. This obviously changes my celebration plans a great deal and I couldn’t be happier. In my 30th year I got married and had the most fantastic wedding... We had planned for a baby not long before the wedding and naively thought we would have a year before we would conceive. To our surprise we were pregnant within two months of trying and a month after our wedding. One test done on a Saturday morning and then just in case another one on the Sunday. I would have probably done another if my sister in law hadn’t said that there was rarely a false positive. The amount of excitement is incredible. Who do you tell? I mean waiting for until 12 weeks is impossible! We decided parents and best friends however, this is not as easy as it seems.
