Keep on running

Since my Marathon blog post, my life has been returning to normal – no more getting up at the crack of dawn to run and evenings where I can choose to go to the pub for a pint or two. I was even able to enjoy some of the Brighton Festival.

The Great Escape

The Great Escape I am a little late to report back on the Great Escape this year, but I can’t let one of the main festivals in Brighton go past without a little mention, so here are my key take always from the festival: You never know how good the bands will be. Most of the bands at the festival are up and coming so however much research you do, it is hard to spot the “band of the festival” from the “worst band of the festival.” So don’t spend time researching all the bands and running from venue to venue, chances are you’ll just end up queuing to get in anywhere later in the evening. Choose one or two venues, stay there and let the band surprise you – the band you enjoy most could easily be one you would have never thought to see if the first place.

Brighton Marathon 2011 bigger and hotter!

Last Sunday was the second Brighton Marathon – and what a lovely day for it…if you were a spectator that is!

Don't get down...get out!

Christmas is over; everyone’s sick at the thought of any more food or drink; wallets are empty and it is still cold - it must be dreary January. So I thought I would start a list of free and fun things to get you out of bed this month:

Decisions, decisions over remember, remember

I love piling on as many scarves and coats as I can manage and venturing out to see fireworks, eat hot dogs and warm my hands by big bonfires to celebrate Guy Fawkes and his failed gunpowder plot.

FAB Brighton Festivals

After a summer of running around seeing relatives here there and everywhere it was great to spend last weekend just chilling in Brighton As we have not been around much - it would have been rude not to spend the weekend how you should any summer weekend in Brighton; pub hopping and not letting the rain stop a long beach BBQ!

Tis the season to...not wash and sit in a field

The reason I have been quiet on the blogging front is that it is festival season and so I have spent quite a few days sitting in fields - or attemptig to recover back in the real world.

Before I sleep….

Officially Brighton Festival may have come to the end but there are some welcome stragglers. The other week I learned of one production that has been extended and so after hearing great reviews, I popped along to see the production called Before I Sleep.

Not only is it Friday, but it’s a bank holiday weekend!

...and although the sun keeps going in the clouds and the wind seeming to be picking up, I can feel it is going to be a good one - as for many people it is also pay day!

Who are you seeing at The Great Escape?

Last year come festival time, I went to a bit of everything, I saw music, comedy, plays and monologues. Some were good, some, not so. And so this year, I have been pickier in my choices.

A little disappointed in the Easter events happening this weekend

Yes I admit after living for just over a year in Brighton, I’ve become spoilt. I am used to festivals and events happening almost every weekend with sporadic extra gigs on weeknights to keep me on my toes. And if there’s an odd weekend with nothing going on, I don’t mind. But this is a bank holiday weekend and not just any bank holiday weekend- we have Friday and Monday off!
