Thirty-something (do not ask!) now, I was born in Portslade, classically educated all over the place, and am now back in Portslade (for the past 3 years) following 12 years in London, living in a house 5 doors from the one I grew up in. Two-time marathon runner...no, sorry...two-time marathon finisher (London, 2005 and 2008), I told myself 'never again' on both occasions. And now I have a place in 2010's inaugural Brighton marathon. I'll be blogging about this lot of preparation (for previous instalments, PLEASE visit my old blog at www.leecolgate.blogspot.com - it's quite funny), living and working (above Jamie Oliver, if you please. I KNOW!) in Brighton and general musings on life. In between posts, get little teeny snapshots of my latest state-of-mind if you like - follow me on twitter at www.twitter.com/leecolgate.
That was the first of what I hope will be many, annual runnings of the Brighton Half Marathon. An utter triumph for the City, individual triumphs for around 8,000 runners and a brilliant day out for the 80,000 or so spectators.
I got up this morning to do my final training run, a 30-minute jog. I decided I'd freak out completely and throw up instead, though, so I ended up doing it this evening when I got home.
Either I'm ready or I'm not. It's too late to do much about it at this stage.
I have a home internet connection again. Just in time for it all to be over. Hey ho
Sky and Virgin between them are conspiring to make modern living impossible. But my legs still work.
February's giving some delightful weather, which I hope stays with us until about midday tomorrow. After that I hope to be in the pub and it can do what it likes!
