Ouch - it's jab time again.

Leaving the supermarket yesterday I was suddenly reminded that I have forgotten something – no it wasn't the bread or something for my dinner – it was that winter was coming on and I hadn't made arrangements to have my flu jab.

What reminded me was that the supermarket themselves offering the jab for eight pounds. I wasn't going to accept their offer as my doctor will do it for nothing, although I was tempted as just to have it there and then in the supermarket would be far more convenient than having to make an appointment with the doc.

It was, by the way, the pharmacist in the supermarket who was offering the service not the checkout girl.

We have had very mild weather over the last few weeks and it's been difficult to remember that winter and all that it brings may come upon us very quickly they soon.

I think that everybody, especially those of us who have disabilities, illnesses, our elderly and those who care for people should ensure that they have the jab at this time to protect them from whatever bug the winter may bring.

Call your GP now or in, some cases, you can go to your chemist or even the supermarket to get protection – tis better to be safe than sorry.

We should also hibernate for the winter, disappear in late October, not to be seen until the Spring.
This also has the benefit of avoiding the silly season and the equal amounts of jollity and misery it brings.
Bah humbug.
