Oh, what a view!

It’s been another busy week, job searching and also having to rethink the plans to get Disney fit. It’s amazing how quick time passes by from one week to the next and the evenings have suddenly got darker a lot earlier, which makes the riding out a bit more hazardous. Some drivers don’t seem to understand that horses get spooked by their lights and charging past them at full speed. I’m sure they can only learn to obey the speed limits in the countrified area.

Sam and I took Disney on Saturday to Compton Cross Country Schooling grounds on Saturday and after some choice navigating from Sam and Julie (going along Bognor Regis sea front) for a while we eventually found our way back on track to the winding lanes of Compton, for those of you who have never been there its well worth a visit, a lot of lovely woodland surrounded by some big green hills that would take some walking.

Compton Cross Country offered a superb package for £20 the use of show jumping arena on grass and the 75 optional cross country jumps, in the current economic climate it was a fantastic offer.

Set in the fabulous country side just outside of Funtingdon, from the highest point of the course you can see the Isle of Wight. It was a lovely clear day so we had some amazing views driving the jeep around, Sam had jumped a course of show jumps on Disney before proceeding onto the x country course it was very windy around some parts of the track and the occasional pheasant refusing to leave his territory till the last minute a few hairy moments for Sam and Disney, but once again a great day, Sam and Disney jumped really well I also rode her over a few fences and I even managed to smile something that doesn’t happen to often so as you can tell it was a very good day had by all and as always a huge thank you to Disney’s owner (Julie) for allowing me and Sam to use her and for the travel.

To end the blog this week I would like to remember my two friends Jan Wilson and Jamie Kyne who were both tragically killed in a fire in Malton, North Yorkshire last month. It was a tragic loss of two young very talented jockeys both of whom were a very young age.

The racing world is still mourning the tragic loss of these two very bubbly characters, they have both ridden at Lingfield Park and Brighton so both local tracks to some readers of the blog. So my love and best wishes go out to them. Donations can be made to the injured jockeys fund.
