Sequins are the life and sparkle of the winter wardrobe, adding some spice to all those woolies.
From hats to dresses, tops and leggings, sequins come in any form. With different colours and styles they are the highlight of my year.
There is no denying it they are everywhere you look and the image they convey of Christmas is enough to make anyone happy just looking at the item let alone wearing it.
If you haven’t got a sequined top I urge you to buy one. If you are not much of an eccentric I suggest starting off small with a minimal amount of sequins just to spruce up an outfit. If you want to go all out, opt for a one shoulder black mini dress. This is a look I love, but remember to keep accessories, if any, simple.
I would suggest something big and baggy or small and skimpy. Don’t go for something inbetween.
Sometimes I feel as though I have been blessed with the ability to find a good bargain. I adore this sequined top and yes you got it, I found it in a charity shop. I found this before sequins were in and this may be the reason why it was a mere £6.99.
See if you can figure out what is hot on the catwalk before it hits the high street, this way you will look more original and it will be easier to nab a bargain.
Ellie: “I fell in love with this sparkly sequined jumper from New Look over the weekend and just had to buy it. I like the way it adds some winter glamour to a casual outfit at the same time as keeping me nice and toasty – essential in this chilly weather. I wore it to the pub with jeans for Sunday lunch and out on Sunday evening with leggings and heels for drinks – so versatile.”
Emma: “My trusty winter coat got in a fight with a firework last week – and lost – so I should really have spent this weekend searching for a replacement. But with Halloween and bonfire night done and dusted, ‘tis officially the season to be sparkly – and Sarah’s sequin mission was far too tempting for me to shop sensibly this weekend... My little heart skipped a beat when I spotted this divine cream and gold spangly shift in Topshop. Teamed with my favourite slouchy cardi, I’m confident it will add a touch of sparkle to even the darkest winter days ahead. I may have to get the dusky pink version next, although it also comes in black... Would it be wrong to buy all three?”
Now get your sparkle on and remember to check out this week's sequined street style finds.
