The world premiere of Bee Detective written by and featuring Sophie Wooley will take place at St Nicholas’ Rest Garden on May 5. Sophie Bee’s busy life is a happy buzz of pollen seeking, dancing with her fellow bees and making yummy honey. But when the worker bees begin to disappear, can Sophie use all her deductive powers to solve the mystery and save the hive?
Kid Carpet and The Noisy Animals is the first punk rock musical for kids.
Kid Carpet and his Animal Band hit the road and prepare to party. They make friends, cause mischief, contemplate the world and finally rock out at a grand dance contest.
The fun takes place at The Old Market on May 19 and 20.
Company Chameleon will perform Push at Brighton Marina on May 19. The performers promise to demonstrate how humans push to exert our dominance and control, and also submit and yield.
The life and work of under-rated Brighton writer Patrick Hamilton’s examined in an exhibition running throughout the Festival at the University of Brighton gallery. It is devised and created by Cinecity and designer/artist Anna Deamer with students from the University of Brighton and City College Brighton and Hove.
Hotel Pro Forma and The Irrepressibles will perform War Sum Up at the Concert Hall, Brighton Dome, on May 25. The multimedia manga opera examines the nature of war, ghosts and with a live music mash-up of contemporary choral music performed by the Latvian Radio Choir and British symphonic pop orchestra The Irrepressibles.
