Wendy Cope - Two Cures For Love, Corn Exchange, Church Street, Brighton, Sat May 24

Wendy Cope Wendy Cope

Humorist Wendy Cope could be described as the people's Poet Laureate after being chosen by Radio 4 listeners to succeed Ted Hughes in 1998.

Cope has a talent for turning the everyday, mundane aspects of English life and love into sharp comical parody: "Bloody men are like bloody buses" one poem begins.

Critically acclaimed as well as popular, accolades for Cope have compared her with Larkin and Betjeman, or as Nicolas Tredell described her, a "jet-age Tennyson".

Cope will talk about her latest book Two Cures For Love which is an anthology of her work spanning nearly 30 years.
