A DESIGN specialist has beaten more than 200 agencies to win a prestigious BBC contract.

Clearleft, based in Brighton, won a place on the BBC’s coveted Digital Design roster following a three-month tender process.

The roster was set up in 2001 and is now limited to seven agencies.

The roster, valued at a total of £4 million, gives the consultancies the opportunity to work on visual, interaction and user experience across the BBC.

Andy Budd, founder and MD at Clearleft, said: “We’ve always been impressed with the BBC’s digital output, from their seminal ‘Glass Door’ report on personalisation, through to more recent work like iPlayer and GEL (global experience language).

“So we’re excited to be able to use our design and user experience insights to help improve such a valued institution.”

Last year saw the company grow from 14 to 19 staff, and move into its new 7,000 square foot office building and event space in The Lanes, Brighton, which it bought in a derelict state and undertook a six month refurbishment.
