THE husband and wife team behind a new ethical coffee shop are enjoying the sweet taste of success since opening two months ago.

Chocaffinitea, in Gloucester Road, Brighton, was created by Paul and Heather Smith after a taste discovery of chocolate, coffee and tea while travelling the southern hemisphere.

The pair said they aim to “embrace the raw nourishing benefits and celebrate the flavourful complexities of chocolate, coffee and tea whilst providing ethically sourced artisanal products to afford guilt-free pleasure”.

From quality servings of tasty loose leaf tea, pure single origin cocoa and coffee drinks and delicious vegan desserts and snacks made using raw cacao, Chocaffinitea is proving a refreshing addition to the high street.

Boss Heather Smith said: “Travelling Asia highlighted loose leaf tea and the health benefits it provides.

“Our affinity for chocolate, coffee and tea was transformed and we wanted to share that appreciation of where those products come from back here in the UK.

“We have a focus on chocolate that celebrates artisanal single origin bean to bar production and we are exclusive stockists in Brighton of several ethical brands like Marou and Forever Cacao.

“Daily we offer our dairy-free signature single origin hot chocolate which showcases the flavour complexity of Madagascan chocolate.

“We serve Monmouth coffee using the pour over method to showcase single origin beans and we stock 17 loose leaf teas from tea studio steeped to perfection for the fullest flavour.”

The Chocaffinitea experience isn’t confined to those who visit the warm and homely shop in the North Laine.

Paul and Heather have developed tea ware and gifts for customers to treat their loved ones with. They also sell Monmouth coffee beans and Tea Studio loose tea in retail bags so customers can taste the beverages at home.

Paul said: “To celebrate chocolate from the bitter to the sweet, we also make in house raw desserts and snacks using raw cacao which are vegan and gluten free, whilst offering a range of decadent brownies and slices for those with a sweeter tooth.

“We will host ticketed tasting events soon and offer longer opening hours on a Thursday starting on July 10 with a set from Brighton band Glass City Vice. Visit chocaffinitea.myshopify.com
