A flurry of land deals at a big business park has left just a few acres available.

The amount of land in Manor Royal, Crawley, free for development has dropped from 90 acres to just three or four in the last 18 months.

Pockets of land have been snapped up by companies and trusts as varied as Tesco and the South East Coast Ambulance Service.

One of the biggest moves involves work on GlaxoSmithKline’s former 30-acre home known as Principal Park, which will house a huge data storage facility.

Steve Sawyer, executive director of Manor Royal Business Improvement District (BID), said: “It is undoubtedly good news.

“We couldn't have predicted it 18 months ago but it’s what we need.

“We need sites taken up and the inv- estment these companies will bring.”
