The 26th Sussex Business Awards are now open.

The awards are the longest established scheme of its kind in the county with 16 trophies to be won.

Taking over from chairman Peter Field, Lord Lieutenant of East Sussex, is Mike Herd, executive director of the Sussex Innovation Centre and Sussex Businessperson of the Year 2000. Three new organisations join this year’s sponsors, which include Morgan Sindall, Domestic & General, Mazars, Legal & General, Sussex Innovation Centre, HSBC, Checkaprofessional.com, Sussex Enterprise, The Argus, Heart FM, Absolute Brighton and Sussex Business Times. Mayo Wynne Baxter will be sponsoring the search for the county’s Most Promising New Business – always one of the most hotly contested of all the categories. Sussex Downs College will sponsor a brand new award for the Young Sussex Businessperson of the Year and Wealden District Council will be sponsoring the Most Sustainable Business.

Sussex companies have until August 29 to prepare their submissions. Winners will be announced at The Grand hotel in Brighton on December 10.
