Luxury car company Rolls-Royce has announced plans for a new vehicle.
The new model, to be made at the company's headquarters at Goodwood, is described as delivering “effortless, open-top touring”.
Rolls said the new car will build on the success of the company's Phantom, Ghost and Wraith models.
Rolls-Royce Motor Cars chief executive Torsten Muller-Otvos said the announcement of the new car opened “an exciting new chapter” in the company's history. He said: “We are currently developing an exciting and thoroughly contemporary interpretation of a pinnacle drophead tourer which will introduce even more discerning men and women to Rolls-Royce ownership.”
More details of the car are expected over the coming months, with the new model likely to cost more than £200,000.
The announcement comes shortly after publication of Rolls-Royce figures which showed the BMW-owned company sold a record 1,968 cars from January to June – a 33% rise on the same period last year.
