THE OLDEST seafood restaurant in Brighton celebrated the start of oyster season with a terrace party.

The 150-year-old establishment seafood and oyster bar English’s welcomed guests for appetisers prepared by head chef Clayton Green and tried their hand at oyster shucking with Jonathan Speirs, on Thursday afternoon.

Restaurant director Simon Leigh-Jones, whose family have run the restaurant since 1945, presented new house champagne Laurent-Perrier, Lock Ryan natives from Scotland and Jersey rocks from the Royal Bay of Grouville – as well as West Mersea rock and native oysters from Richard Haward.

English’s is now offering a light two-course meal for just £10 between 10am and 5pm from Monday to Friday.
