A fitness director has told how a near-death experience led her to launch a groundbreaking rehab regime.

Orsolya Kovacs (pictured right), 30, was walking in Kemp Town when a lorry driver reversed into a lamp post, which broke in half and crashed down on her head.

She was left with a broken backbone and spent six days in the hospital and several months in bed.

After six months of agony and slow progress she discovered her backbone had actually collapsed.

It was only after trying out German fitness tool AmpliTrain that she started on the road to recovery.

She has now decided to open the first studio of its kind in England.

AmpliTrain uses electrical muscle stimulation to strengthen muscles.

Orsolya explained: “I spent six months in bed and was struggling to recover.

“Doctors advised I needed to strengthen my back and core to be able to walk again but I was still in a great deal of agony and was struggling to find a way of building up my muscles without causing further pain.

“Eventually I found out about AmpliTrain, a German fitness tool which is very gentle to joints and can provide pain relief. “After just four sessions, I was able to walk more easily and was getting some pain relief.

“After fifteen sessions I was getting more permanent pain relief and could finally sleep through the night.

“After just three months I had pretty much recovered.”

The therapy can be used to both repair and build up muscles with sessions taking 10 to 20 minutes.

It is particularly beneficial for those people who have conditions that cause regular aches and pains or prevent them from training, such as obesity, heart problems or muscle damage. It is also used to boost strength and fitness, indeed a number of elite athletes use it including Bayern Munich footballer David Alaba and German triathlete Susan Blatt.

Orsolya is so confident of the health and fitness benefits of AmpliTrain she is offering the first session free at her Hove studio.
