INFLUENTIAL business figures attended a networking event by The Argus which featured an interview with Brighton i360 architect David Marks.

Executives from the worlds of property, charity, PR, banking and finance attended the lunch at Hotel du Vin’s newly refurbished dome room.

Mr Marks, founder of Marks Barfield architects and the man behind the London Eye, reassured business leaders over feared traffic congestion caused by increased visitors.

He said: “The first thing we are going to do is encourage people to travel by train – most people are happy to walk from the station.

“For those people who insist on coming by car, there will be roadside signs directing people away from the city centre and via the west side.

“There will also be a visitors’ car park so it’s all good news for the city.”

Mr Marks said there would be no loss to the public purse if the i360 failed to attract its predicted visitor numbers.

Work on the £46 million viewing tower began two months ago and construction will last two years.
