A soup vendor is enjoying a winter-weather boost as chilly workers go in search of a warming lunch.
The Soup Dept was launched earlier this year by 30-year-old Tom Chadd.
The former engineer fell in love with the food after working a ski season and moved to Brighton from Sunderland in 2013.
He said: “It's going really well, I have got a fantastic customer base and with the weather getting colder over the last few weeks more and more people have been coming to enjoy the soup.”
Tom operates out of a van, parked at Brighton's The Woodstore in Circus Street, and sells soups and other snacks Monday to Friday from 9.30am to 4.30pm.
He makes a fresh soup each day and also sells coffees and snacks to office workers and students.
Tom added: “I think it has proved popular because people like quick and easy street food.
“It's also a healthy and inexpensive option.
“It is really inspiring to see so many small businesses make a success of it in Brighton.
“I think the city is a good place to have something like this because people seem so open to trying something new, which is great.”
