A teenager has organised his own nightclub event for youngsters over Easter as he feels his peers need more to look forward to.

Joshua Snajdar, 15, will host Retrospekt 2015 at Club 32 – otherwise known as Revenge – next Monday for juvenile jivers in Brighton.

The youngster has organised everything from the venue to the music played by specially selected DJs to make the event a hit, and has set his eye on turning it into a business venture in the future.

He said: “I organised my birthday party last year down at Waterhall and even though it was much smaller people seemed to enjoy it.

“So I thought about it back then that if we did a bigger event it would be great.”

The straw that broke the camel’s back for Joshua was the lack of events on for teenagers over the Easter weekend, so he set upon his mission to change that.

The Cardinal Newman student, who has already sold nearly 100 tickets, said: “There are house parties and stuff like that, but there’s not anything really organised.

“Last year there was a girl in my year who had an open invited house party and loads of people turned up, stole her photos, stole her computer and it was a mess.”

Although the teenager enjoys the event management side of it, he has admitted that less than a week away his stress levels are beginning to be stretched and he will have to provide £800 for venue hire and about £600 for DJs prior to the event.

He said: “I just want everyone to enjoy it and to have a good time.

“If I can get 200 people to come this time, then I might break even, but I’m not interested in the money at the moment.

“Hopefully everyone comes and has a great time and then the next few events will be even bigger and better if we do them.”

Proud mum Raquel Snajdar was thrilled her son had seized the initiative and is confident the night will be a success.

She said: “I think it’s great he’s doing something like this not only for himself, but for kids his age.

“This event will be really different to other under-18s parties because he’s worked really hard on the DJs and that side of it to make sure it’s more of a music event as opposed to just a gathering.

“With it being at Revenge, people were wondering if it was a gay event, but it was just the most suitable venue.”
