A SUCCESSFUL commercial carpenter has opened a new headquarters in Brighton as it expands its business. Woodhart Carpentry, along with domestic sister company Woodhart Lofts & Construction, was until recently run from a summerhouse in co-founder Ben Woodhart’s garden.

But with steady commercial work and a growing popularity of loft conversions, the company has opened offices in Valley Drive, Withdean.

In the last year Woodhart has upped its sub-contractors from 50 to 75, with five staff based at the new offices, which officially opened on Saturday.

Brighton born and bred company founders Matt and Ben Woodhart left school without qualifications. But they worked hard as site carpenters for a combined 35 years and were encouraged to start their own business due to the quality of their work.

The brothers said: “We felt it was important to establish our headquarters in our home town, which is why we’re opening our new offices in Brighton.

“We feel it’s vital that businesses support the town’s growth and economy and we’re delighted to have firm roots in the town.”

Founded in 2006, the original company, Woodhart Carpentry, was launched as a family business aimed at the new-build commercial market. Having both worked as site carpenters with 35 years’ industry experience, the brothers realised the need for competent, organised and reliable carpentry and founded Woodhart Carpentry, which quickly became one of the largest commercial carpenters in the South East. To meet the growing public demand for home extension and renovation, Woodhart Lofts & Construction was launched. Matt and Ben Woodhart added: “We work to high values and always deliver on time and to the highest standard. We’re reliable and trustworthy and more importantly we’re really easy to get along with. Time and again our clients tell us that our team make them feel at ease. Our word is our bond and we will never leave a client unsatisfied.”
