A POPULAR airport restaurant and cafe has been given a plush makeover, writes Dayna Spear.

Truffle's bakery has forked out £250,000 to transform the Hummingbird restaurant and cafe at Shoreham airport, which boasts spectacular views of the runway and overlooks the picturesque Lancing College.

The Pashley Suite has an alluring, art-deco themed makeover with the original wooden flooring and silver chandeliers from Graham & Green. The handmade, real velvet black and silver curtains have been matched with stripy hand-painted wallpaper by Farrow & Ball. Manager Paul Simmons has put the last three years of his life into the project and was helped by designer Hannah Collins.

The Miles Suite features black and white paintings inspired by Erté, creating a Gatsby-inspired, jazz sense to the room.

And the main dining room which has an impressive black and white photo spread of the airport when it first opened in the 1930’s, contributing a more nostalgic, historic sense to the restaurant.
