THE new Rolls-Royce which is handmade in Sussex has been unveiled at a special ceremony by supermodel Jodie Kidd.

The Dawn was shown off for the first time at at Goodwood yesterday - were it has been handmade.

The 6.6-litre V12 twin-turbo, which has 563bhp, is capable of 0 to 60mph in under five seconds.

However, if you want to get your hands on the Dawn, it will set you back a cool £250,000.

The new car, which can reach a top speed of 155mph, has been billed as the world’s only modern four-seater super-luxury drophead (convertible).

The Sussex-based designers took inspiration from the Silver Dawn, a Rolls-Royce car produced in the early 1950s.

Giles Taylor, director of design at Rolls-Royce, said: "We pride ourselves as creators of fine motor cars that also serve as social spaces.

“The idea of creating a car like Dawn that can be used in comfort by only two adults on a day to day basis is anathema. In creating Dawn we have accepted no compromise to the comfort and luxury of four adults who want to travel together in the pinnacle of style.”

He added: "Our new Rolls-Royce Dawn promises a striking, seductive encounter like no other Rolls-Royce to date, and begins a new age of open-top, super-luxury motoring.

"Dawn is a beautiful new motor car that offers the most uncompromised open-top motoring experience in the world. It will be the most social of super-luxury drophead motor cars for those who wish to bathe in the sunlight of the world’s most exclusive social hotspots.

"Quite simply, it is the sexiest Rolls-Royce ever built."

The car features all the timeless Rolls-Royce design principles such as a 2:1 wheel height to body height, a long bonnet, short front overhang, a long rear overhang, an elegant tapering rear graphic and a high shoulder line.

The car also has a bespoke audio system which is specially calibrated for the unique configuration of the Dawn. Whether the roof is open or closed, the audio ensures perfect acoustic balance and performance.

Satellite Aided Transmission also utilises GPS data to allow the car to see beyond what the driver sees, anticipating their next move based on location and driving style.

The first batch of the cars has already sold out but the Dawn can be reserved at rolls-roycemotorcars.com.
