CELEBRITY fashion designer Wayne Hemingway has won support for a creative and digital hub.

Businesses have backed the proposals for a hub to boost the creative sector in Bognor.

Hemingway Design, the renowned designer and Sussex resident's company, is leading the development of an overall design brief.

Space at Bognor Regis railway station has been identified as a possible location with a meeting held last week to seek views of community groups and businesses.

Wired Sussex, Bognor Regis Chamber of Commerce, The Big Blake Project, Bognor Regis Regeneration Board and local arts and digital businesses attended.

Wayne said: “All towns have creative people within their community, and the enormous contribution of creative businesses to the economy and to quality of life is now empirically proved and accepted.

"However, Bognor Regis is lacking in a focal point for its creative community that will undoubtedly enlarge as the university opens its new facilities in the coming years.

"Hopefully we have made the first baby steps to remedying this situation.”

The project involves West Sussex County Council, Arun District Council, the University of Chichester and will be based around the university's engineering and digital technology park plan.
