BRIGHTON'S only vegan kebab shop has celebrated its second birthday.
Beezlebab started life as a stall at Brighthelm Garden’s Street Diner but it is now a permanent fixture of The Hope and Ruin and the menu has expanded to include vegan hotdogs, loaded fries and deep fried mac and cheese.
Owner Luke Semlekan-Tansey, 29, said he hoped a live DJ set, retro computer games and a food eating contest attracted both old and new customers
to the party at the pub in Queen’s Road when it celebrated last month.
Mr Semlekan-Tansey started making and selling vegan kebabs in 2014, and puts his business’s success down to experimentation and a lot of
luck.
He started developing the idea for the business after sampling a vegan kebab in Berlin.
Mr Semlekan-Tansey said: “I didn’t really have any idea how I was going to do them, so I just experimented and managed to come up with a
recipe."
He added: “Our most popular item is still the vegan kebab but chili cheese fries and the sauerkraut-topped hotdog are up there."
