A NEWLY-refurbished co-working and office space specifically for those looking for a plug in and play work environment has launched in Worthing.

New workspace initiative, Freedom Works, is based in the town centre.

There are 12 offices available to rent, of varying sizes, a meeting room, break out area and a large co-working space accommodating 40 dedicated desks and several hot desks for those just wanting to turn up for the day.

Founder and MD Jon Trigg said: "The concept is we all want the talent that is from Worthing to stay in Worthing and have an

environment which encourages and facilitates that growth."

He believes that the key to success of these co-working spaces is to create an environment which encourages productivity and importantly collaboration.

And he says that by providing new and growing businesses with the right environment to encourage and facilitate growth, Worthing should be able to rival its shoulder towns in encouraging and developing local micro businesses, entrepreneurs and establishing SMEs.

He said: "These individuals and businesses may grow stronger and larger with the right connections which is the core focus of Freedom Works.

"So a big focus was for us to design an office environment which whilst fresh, encouraged social interaction. We offer free beer Friday for all members, which has a purpose? simply we get people gathering around our kitchen and break out area and chatting.

"We recognised that Worthing needed more co-working environments, as these do play a large part in helping businesses thrive, and we are pleased to be playing our part in that.

"I knew there was a co-working demand in Worthing, but nicely surprised with how much demand there is.

"We are getting 45 new enquiries a week as word spreads and based on current projections we believe our co-working space will be at full capacity by the end of October."

Contrary to popular belief, the largest population demographic in Worthing is the 16 to 44 year-old range - a range which supports an ever growing number of entrepreneurs, keen to start and grow local businesses.

Jon believes the main ingredients to survive as a business are hands-on management assistance, access to finance, business and technical support services, and a collaborative working environment, with access to peer to peer support.

The new work space was opened by Worthing Mayor, councillor Sean McDonald, with a collection of local businesses, founding members and key council officers.
