A BIKE service has thrown open its doors for the first time.
The Brighton Bike Hub offers free DIY bike repair support, low cost second-hand bikes and social bike rides for residents and students.
It is based at the Field business site at Preston Barracks on Lewes Road and open Fridays and Saturdays from 11am to 5pm.
The University of Brighton Students’ Union has joined forces with the hub, which has recently moved from Circus Street.
Brighton and Hove mayor Pete West formally opened the hub before the start of a family fun day at the Field site.
This featured music and entertainment including a bouncy castle, games, arts and crafts and sideshows plus ice cream and cakes.
Field is a hub for local entrepreneurs who are developing pioneering innovative new products on-site.
It has been set up by developers U+I Plc in partnership with Brighton and Hove City Council and the University of Brighton and funded by Coast to Capital local enterprise partnership.
