A ONE-MAN enterprise launched in a shed in the countryside is now one of the fastest growing private companies in the county.

And it’s in the running for a Sussex Super Growth Award.

Today we continue our weekly focus on the awards which recognise the 60 fastest expanding businesses.

Their success will be celebrated at an awards event at the American Express Stadium at Falmer on March 7.

It is sponsored by asb law, Lloyds Bank and Kreston Reeves in partnership with The Argus.

The third company we are focusing on is Posturite, based at The Mill, Berwick, Polegate.

Posturite is the largest independent ergonomics company in the UK.

Its products are designed to work with the body to help people carry out tasks as comfortably and safely as possible.

But providing ergonomic products is just the start of what it does.

Over the past 25 years of business, it has branched out into display screen equipment, health and safety, staff training, office refurbishment and more.

It has been pioneering a revolution in workplace ergonomics since its conception in the early 1990s when boss Ian Fletcher-Price swapped his City desk job for a workshop in his mother’s shed.

With work-related injuries, aches and pains costing the UK billions in direct costs and dropped productivity each year, it’s vital that workplaces do more to improve their equipment and ensure their practices comply with health and safety standards.

Posturite says it offers the products, expertise, assessments and training to help organisations do this.

The company is also at the forefront of the active working revolution, helping employers develop active workplaces that encourage more movement to boost the health and productivity of their staff.

Selling in more than 30 countries worldwide and with a turnover of £25 million last year, there is no doubt this brand is going places.

Even so, its roots remain firmly embedded in Sussex soil.

New offices have also been opened in Sedgefield, County Durham, and there are teams of assessors out on the road visiting clients across the UK personally.

Ian said: “We are all delighted that Posturite has been selected as a Sussex Super Growth Awards finalist.

“It’s testament to the team’s hard work and belief in what we do that we find ourselves here today.

“I look forward to hearing the big reveal on the night.”

Sussex has more than 80,000 businesses employing more than 650,000 people and contributes more than £34 billion to the UK economy.

The awards will celebrate their continued prominence.

Hosting the event at the Amex will be broadcaster and business consultant Simon Fanshawe.

The fastest-growing company in last year’s Sussex Super Growth Awards was Comms Factory Group, of Worthing, with 311 per cent growth.

Kingscote Rojay in Crawley and Keysource, Horsham, shared the honours in 2015 with an identical growth rate of 135 per cent.
