TODAY we continue our focus on the Sussex Super Growth Awards, which recognise the 60 fastest expanding businesses.

Their success will be celebrated at an awards event at the American Express Stadium at Falmer on March 7.

It is sponsored by asb law, Lloyds Bank and Kreston Reeves in partnership with The Argus.

This week we are focusing on Electronic Temperature Instruments Ltd (ETI) based at Easting Close, Worthing.

It is a private limited company founded in 1983 and is now the UK’s largest digital thermometer manufacturer.

ETI occupies two modern buildings in Worthing and manufactures approximately 80 per cent of the products it sells worldwide.

It procures materials and components from local suppliers where possible and the company now employs 175 people.

In the last four years the business has grown by 100 per cent, giving ETI a significant increase in sales of temperature measurement devices and other related products.

As well as the manufacture of thermometers, ETI has its own UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Service) accredited laboratory traceable to national standards and also has BSI quality assurance accreditation to BS 9001.

MD Peter Webb MBE said: “We are delighted to be short-listed in the Sussex Super Growth Awards which is a true reflection of the hard work and dedication of our employees.

“Once again the business has performed way above my expectations but the real credit has to go the employees, so well done to them.

ETI recognises that innovation is vital and has its own research and development team consisting of eight people.

As a successful business it strives to anticipate future trends by developing ideas, products or services that allow the company to meet future demand rapidly and effectively.

Peter said: “Continual innovation helps us stay ahead of our competitors as markets, technologies or trends change.

“ETI is very proud to be recognised as an innovative UK manufacturer.”

ETI has been delighted to win many business awards over the past few years and were honoured with a Queens Award for Enterprise for International Trade in 2012 and again in 2014.

The company attributes its success and growth to its highly regarded range of products and its worldwide reputation for value for money quality products.

Shirley Smith, partner at the Gatwick office of sponsor Kreston Reeves, sees these awards as an important initiative for Sussex businesses: She said: “Those companies making it as finalists this year will be recognised as a growing business, having gone from strength to strength over the three year period.

“There is a good mix of industries represented and it is exciting to know that we have a great variety of successful industries in Sussex.”

Sussex Super Growth is a landmark initiative seeking to produce a definitive index of the county’s fastest growing companies.

Kreston Reeves partner Paul Roe said: “It’s always great to see Sussex businesses doing well.

“These awards are unique in their ability to pick up fantastic success stories of businesses who don’t always shout about it themselves.”
