THE last few years have seen steady growth for Littlehampton Welding Ltd, another finalist next Tuesday.

The construction industry has picked up considerably compared to the darkest days of the recession and this has had a positive effect on its fortunes.

Bigger, more demanding contracts has seen the company involved in some prestigious projects, particularly around London.

They include the Olympic Park and the intricate roof of the RAF Bomber Command Memorial in Green Park.

They have also worked on London Bridge’s sculptural pedestrian staircase, the King’s Cross Gas Holder Canopy and a futuristic spiral staircase for the BBC Worldwide HQ.

Some of its more artistic work has included the fabrication and construction of Thomas Heatherwick’s Rolling Bridge at Paddington Basin.

The firm also worked on the How It Is installation by Miroslav Balka in the Turbine Hall at Tate Modern and the huge Gerry Judah motor sport sculptures that have formed the centrepiece at the Goodwood Festival of Speed every year since 2004.

Even closer to home is the East Beach Café in Littlehampton.

The company is situated on the Riverside Industrial Estate at Wick and they will be joining the other finalists at the Amex on Tuesday morning next week.
