SOPHIE Curtis, 23, from Hailsham will be competing in the World Sports Games 2017 in June thanks largely to a donation from a local business charitable trust.
The Marlow Ropes’ Charitable Trust has donated over a quarter of the cost needed to help Sophie achieve her dream of representing Britain in Judo at the games in Riga, Latvia.
Mark Fryer of Marlow Ropes said: “Marlow is a brand well connected with Olympic and world champions in the sailing world.
“We are very proud of our British heritage and our strong ties with competitive sports so we are delighted to help Sophie and wish her the best of luck in Riga.”
Sophie said: “A massive thank you to Marlow Charitable Trust.
“I can’t believe that the competition is only seven weeks away.
“It is very exciting and I will do my best to bring home a medal.”
This year Marlow Ropes launched The Marlow Ropes Charitable Trust.
The Trust will run a number of events, auctions and fundraising initiatives.
