SHOREHAM Port welcomed customers and contractors to its annual hospitality day at Fontwell Park racecourse.

The afternoon started with a welcome from port chief executive Rodney Lunn, who thanked everyone present for their ongoing support and gave a brief update on the latest developments at the Port.

The fourth race was the ‘Shoreham Port Handicap Chase’ and the trophy was presented by port deputy chair Amber Foster and non-executive board Member, Joanne Newell.

Ms Foster said: “We had another fantastic day at Fontwell Park.

“This is our seventh consecutive year at the racecourse and it remains a firm favourite with staff and guests.

“The service we received was second to none and it was great to catch up with our customers and build relationships in such a relaxed and friendly setting.”

Lars Widelund, port director at the Port of Skelleftea in Sweden, was there and he said: “It was a really enjoyable experience at the races.

“It was the first time for me at the racetrack and still, I left the track £25 richer!

“Thank you to Alan Motterham from Shoreham Port who has been a fantastic host during my visit.

“Whilst I was in Shoreham Alan showed me the timber terminals and I was extremely impressed with the good order and smart structure of the operations.”

Tim Shave, manager at builders merchants Sydenhams Ltd, said: “It was another roaring success.”
