Cowboy gunfighters and a medicine man will descend on Stoneham Park as part of a Wild West Show this Saturday.
A thrilling Gunfight at Stoneham Corral will be re-enacted by cowboys from the Stunt Action Team. The always popular Brillo the clown will appear in a cowboy hat; and Chief Black Bear, the medicine man, will erect his tipi in the park, conduct healing sessions and perform American indian dances.
“Chief Black Bear is part Apache, part Arapaho medicine man,” event organiser, Don Brown, told the Argus.
“The Wild West Show follows on from last year’s successful ‘Pirates and Princesses’ festival. It will be great fun for all the family, there’s stuff for kids and adults, and best of all, entrance is free of charge,” said Brown.
Live music will include a performance by the Torchlight Smokers country and western band. Audience participation will be encouraged. There will be prizes for the best fancy dress, and there will be American hoedown line dancing and square dancing for kids and adults.
Although the event is free to enter, there will be a chance to spend your pocket money, since there will be plenty of stalls, including a beer tent, a barbeque, and a coconut shy.
Don Brown is Events Coordinator for the Poets Corner Community Society, in Stoneham Park. Over the past few years the Society has been credited with rehabilitating the once derelict Park. Proceeds will go to PCCS and Hove Lions.
